Privacy Policy
Cash Tally is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Cash Tally is a privacy-first app. All your financial data stays on your device.
We collect information only when you explicitly choose to use certain features:
- Local Data Only: All your expense records, profiles, categories, and tags are stored exclusively on your device. We never see this data.
- Device Information (only for sync): If you choose to enable Google Drive sync, your device name and a device ID are used to track which device made changes during sync. This helps prevent data conflicts.
- Google Account (only for sync): If you choose to sign in with Google for cloud sync, your email address is stored locally to identify your Google Drive storage.
- Device Information (only for feedback): If you send us feedback or bug reports, the email includes your device model and Android/iOS version to help us troubleshoot.
Important: We do NOT collect analytics, track your behavior, or gather any information without your explicit action. No data leaves your device unless you choose to enable sync or send us feedback.
2. How We Use Your Information
We only use information you explicitly provide:
- Device info for sync: Used only to identify your devices when syncing data via Google Drive (if you enable sync)
- Google account for sync: Used only to access your Google Drive for backup and sync (if you sign in)
- Device info in feedback: Helps us understand bugs and issues when you send us feedback emails
- All financial calculations: Happen entirely on your device with your local data
We do NOT use your information for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than what you explicitly requested.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored exclusively on your device:
- Local storage: All financial data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device
- Optional cloud backup: If you enable sync, a copy is stored in your personal Google Drive (controlled by you, not by us)
- No remote servers: We don't have any servers that collect or store your data
- Full control: You can export, delete, or disconnect sync at any time
4. Information Sharing
We do not share, sell, or rent your information to third parties. Your financial data remains private and under your control.
5. Third-Party Services
The app includes optional integrations that you must explicitly enable:
- Google Drive API: Used only if you enable sync. Your data is stored in your personal Google Drive. We cannot access your Google Drive.
- Google Sign-In: Used only for Google Drive authentication. Required only if you want sync.
- Device Info Plus: A Flutter plugin that reads device model/OS version. Used only for sync device identification and feedback emails (when you send them).
These services have their own privacy policies. When you enable sync, you are subject to Google's privacy policies for Google Drive and Sign-In.
We do NOT use: Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, ad networks, or any other tracking services.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and review all your financial data within the app
- Export your data in CSV or other formats
- Delete your data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data

7. Data Retention
Your data is stored on your device until you choose to delete it. When using cloud sync:
- You can disconnect sync and delete cloud data at any time
- Deleting data from the app will remove it from your device and cloud storage
- Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete cloud synced data
8. Changes to This Policy
